landfall tonight near <st1><st1>Galveston</st1>, <st1>Texas</st1></st1> and have 
widespread effects. </span></font><br></p><p><span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: 13px; line-height: 16px; ">Our collegiate Alpha Chi chapters in 
<st1><st1>Houston</st1></st1> are at Univ of Houston and at Houston Baptist. UH 
closed Thurs at 5pm through at least Sunday – <a title="http://www.uh.edu/" href="http://www.uh.edu/">www.uh.edu</a> and HBU closed at 3:30pm yesterday, 
also thru Sunday. Other area AXO chapters: In Huntsville, TX (just north of 
<st1>Houston</st1>), Sam Houston State Univ is closed (and Parents Weekend is 
cancelled; <a title="http://www.shsu.edu/" href="http://www.shsu.edu/">www.shsu.edu</a>) as is Texas A&amp;M in 
<st1><st1>College Station</st1></st1> (an hour NW of Houston; <a title="http://www.tamu.edu/" href="http://www.tamu.edu/">www.tamu.edu</a>). 
Stephen F. Austin State Univ (in <st1><st1>Nacogdoches</st1>, 
<st1>TX</st1></st1>) will close at noon today. It’s in eastern TX, not near the 
coast. Lamar, in <st1><st1>Beaumont</st1>, <st1>TX</st1></st1> (on the TX/LA 
border; <a title="http://www.lamar.edu/" href="http://www.lamar.edu/">www.lamar.edu</a>) closed yesterday and plans to 
reopen on Monday. <st1><st1>Beaumont</st1></st1> is very close to the Gulf and

Our thoughts and well wishes are with everyone affected by this tragedy. A joint statement was issued by the North-American Interfraternity Conference, National Panh </em><em>ellen </em><em>ic Conference, National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations, National Pan-H </em><em>ellen </em><em>ic Council, and the Association of Fraternity Advisors.
