Race for the Cure
Run. Walk. Get Inspired. Get Involved. Make a new friend. Make a Difference. Take the first step. Join the Race.
In addition to participating in virtual ~ online philanthropy, we offer our members the chance to participate in real life. The MTM Exec Board chose the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure as that option in 2005-2006 because
1. we each know Alpha Chi's who have been affected by Breast Cancer....either with their own personal battles with the disease or supporting their mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, etc.
2. the events are family-friendly, so strollers and small children are welcome, and
3. there are races in over 100 cities around the country, so no matter where we live, there should be one close enough for most of us to participate.
Our goal for the 2005-2006 year was to have at least 15 of our 60+ members participate locally. We are happy to report that we exceeded our goal!! We were thrilled to have a huge team comprised of alumnae, collegians and friends for the Cleveland Race in October 2005 and that sisters were able to participate in a number of cities around the country.
