Behind the Scenes at MTM
This blog is a day-to-day update of what is going on in Mu Tau Mu.
Eventually we'll move the older journal entries from our livejournal
space but for now to read the archives (entries prior to May 19, 2005), head over to http://www.livejournal.com/users/amzmtm/.
Things you'll hear about here include notification that new photos or other items are posted on our private website
(more about the site is here),
more detail on our
activities than you see in our month-by-month history blog, news from
Case, news from the collegiate chapter, news from Alpha Chi Omega at
large, and occasionally fun new ideas on their way to implementation.
Links to the private site will take you directly to the item mentioned.
To protect the privacy of our members, only first names will be given.

Collegiate Housing & Infrastructure Act--We need you!!
You have an exciting opportunity to help collegiate chapters have competitive facilities. Have you heard of the Grassroots Letter Writing Campaign? As most of you will read about in The Lyre, Alpha Chi Omegas are going to Washington DC in April to ask Congresspersons and Senators to support the Collegiate Housing & Infrastructure Act. We need your help by April 1st! Please go to www.fraternalcaucus.com and send a letter (which has already been written for you) to the Congressperson and Senators who represent your district. At the web site, click on “Contact Congress”, complete 2 simple steps, and your letters will be sent electronically, all in 10 minutes or less!!!! Whether your chapter had a designated facility (for example, a chapter house or lodge) or not, it is important that you participate so Alpha Chi Omegas and Greek members all over the country have the opportunity to improve their facilities.
Please share this with your friends and family who are members of fraternities and sororities!

MacDowell Colony Centennial
On NPR this afternoon on All Things Considered they did a piece on MacDowell Colony. The audio will be available at about 7:30pm EST tonight on their website: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=7686354 where they have already posted some nice photos and the text from the story.
In case you are not familiar with MacDowell Colony, it is an artists’ colony in Peterborough, New Hampshire, that was founded 100 years ago this month. It was Alpha Chi Omega’s first philanthropy. In 1911 we built the Star Studio and Alpha Chi Omega Foundation continues to support the Colony, several of its Fellowships, and the upkeep of the Star Studio. It is in tribute to our musical heritage that we continue to support the fine arts.

Badge Day is Monday, March 5th, 2007
Wear your Alpha Chi Omega pin this Monday!
"The 26 member organizations of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) are celebrating International Badge Day March 5, an annual event during which sorority women everywhere honor their Greek affiliations by wearing their badge or letters. The theme this year is “Wear Your Badge With Pride.” International Badge Day is co-sponsored by Herff Jones Inc. Greek Division." http://www.npcwomen.org/newsevents/n_badgeday.php
One of the most powerful tools we have in building a positive perception of sorority women is showing the world the intelligent caring women we are. One way to do that is to wear your badge to school or work on Monday March 6th! Some ways to celebrate:
- talk about the meaning of our pin
- talk about the positive experience you had as a collegian
- if you know of other sorority/fraternity alumnae in your office or workplace, plan to wear your badges and go to lunch or dinner together to celebrate your Panhellenic sisterhood.
International Badge Day is also an opportunity to reflect upon how sorority membership has influenced our lives. Our experiences are not all unique to Alpha Chi Omega. Most Greek women have found their experiences to be fulfilling and an enrichment to their collegiate years and then some.
